A Broken Set

One day I went to our attic to find Christmas-tree decorations. Usually we keep there our old stuff, which we don't use or use, but very rare. Attic is a magic place for me. It keeps the history of our family. There are old things which were important for my parents: a portrait of my mother which painted my father, my old fairy - cycle, my dolls and another toys, my mother's dresses which she wore when she was young, old ware and many others things. All that stuff has their own history and there are many funny stories which have concern with one or another thing. Also I found there an old sugar and creamer set. My father presented it to my mother about twenty five years ago on their first wedding day and my mother liked it very much. I even forgot about it, probably it was my mother who put it here. This set has a long history and one interesting story.

Once upon a time my mother went to the country on two days that to see her ill aunt Kelly. And my father was left alone. He had great plans. He wanted to do nothing and in the evening buy beer and invite his friends. Usually my mother didn't let him to do it. But in the morning he suddenly dropped my mother's favorite sugar and creamer set on the floor. The set broke and my father's plans too. Now he had another plan, to clean the kitchen and to find the same set that mother wouldn't get wind of this case, other wise my mother would give a roasting to my father. All day he spent in searching the same set. He hardly found this set in eighth or ninth store he visited. And in the evening instead of drinking beer with friends he cleaned the kitchen. When my mother came the kitchen was cleaned and dinner was served. My mother felt something strange, she thought that father fell into error, because father has never cooked. But father was rather quite, he explained that he just wanted to make a surprise. And my mother was surprised. They sat down to table and they began eat. Then my mother took the set that to put sugar in her tea, but there was empty. Father forgot to fill it. And besides he forgot to take away a price label from it. How he didn't try, my mother learned the truth and gave one what for. After this case if mother went somewhere she took father with her that by accident he didn't broke all ware in the house.
